A.G.M. Update

This is just to keep you all up to date with matters concerning yourselves, at the AGM meeting on Thursday night, clubs where informed about an under 18s Division starting this coming season, you will all be expected to officiate in these games until you tell me otherwise, there are 10 to 12 teams in this Division, kick off time will vary, some will kick off at 14:30 normal kick off, and some may kick off at 11:00 am, I will confirm this in the next couple of weeks, also there is now a newsletter on the website called Heaps of Trouble this will contain all the information you need to keep you up to date about the League as far as Referees are concerned, have a look see what you think www.landc.org.uk.

On another note I am hoping to arrange a Referee meeting on the Wednesday 25th July 2007 at Curzon Ashton FC, we have lots to discuss and there are a couple of minor items to also discuss, please let me have your thoughts on this as soon as possible, I would like all Referee's in the League to attend this meeting as we can all get to know each other and have a pint or two.

Once again I would ask you to get your registration form in as soon as possible, I have lots off work to do and I need your form in so I can put your details into my database, late forms make it a nightmare for me, due to the amount of paperwork involved, so I would ask you to get it in as soon as possible please, our season will start on Wednesday 22nd August, thanks lads, and don't forget to let me have your thoughts on the possible meeting in July.

Veri Gott It

Figure 1Referee of the year 2006/07- Mark Verigotta

This is Mark Verigotta receiving his award at the Lancashire & Cheshire Dinner on the 21 May 07, I was there and Mark was so surprised when his name was shouted out, he smacked me on the back and said something I couldn’t possibly write on here, well done mark, Mark who hails from Audenshaw in Manchester is 42 and has been a Referee for a number of years, he joined the League in 2005, coming from the Manchester League, there loss our gain.

On the night I went around the tables talking to some of the players and secretary’s from various clubs, several clubs actually mentioned Mark and said that he was a good Referee, I spoke to Carl Jackson, (Denton Town) and he said Mark was a quality Referee, this was echoed by Coddy, and several other officials from the club, there where also some nice words from Hooley Bridge Celtic, South Manchester, and Whalley range Football Club.

As you can see Mark received a nice engraved trophy on the night, this could be you, the clubs pick the Referee of the year; I think they made a good choice this year.

Well done Mark

Make Sure Your Checked

As you are all aware I have sent you all registration forms for next season, please make sure you all fill in the form as it reads, I wont be able to offer you any games, or allow you to register you with the league without a current CRB check, or a child protection number, you will have to speak to your affiliated county's to see if you all have one.

This season has been a difficult one trying to recruit and retain referees, especially with me being new to the job, but I think we did quite well and thank you all for accepting games and changes to games without a fuss.

The level of refereeing in the league has been exceptional and the coverage better than I could have wished I hope you will all re-register with the league for season 2007/2008.

Just another reminder that John Ferns will be on board next season as Referee Reports (Marks) Secretary, he will be getting Referee's marks and collating them, and leasing with me I hope you will make him as welcome as you have made me.

Once again thanks for all your help and support.
