Can players take part in more than one L&C cup competition?

 

Once a player has appeared in ANY cup competition for a member club, they are cup-tied from playing in all cup competition for another member club.

 

Once a player has appeared in a cup competition, they cannot then 'step down' to another cup competition for the SAME club and are effectively cup-tied. Players ARE permitted to 'step up' for the SAME club, subject to player eligibility rules for the Semi-Finals and Final stages.

 

The ranking of cup competitions in the League is: Rhodes Cup - Wray Cup - Whitehead Cup.

 

Are there any player eligibility requirements for the cup competitions?

 

All registered players are eligible to play in cup competitions until the Semi-Final stage.

 

To be eligible to play in a Semi-Final or Final, a player must have made FIVE appearances for the relevant team during the season. Where a club believes there are grounds for special dispensation from this requirement, they must provide full details in writing to the League. For clarity, a player not reaching the required number of appearances due to having served a playing suspension or similar does NOT count as grounds for special dispensation.

 

Can a cup-tie be reversed?

 

The home-drawn team has two opportunities to host a cup-tie, and it is then reversed, where possible, to the away-drawn team.

 

The League reserves the right to schedule a cup-tie at a separate venue where it is essential for the tie to be resolved urgently for the integrity of the competition.

 

Who pays the referee’s match fee?

 

For cup ties, match fees are split between the two clubs 50-50. Clubs should agree the payment arrangements BEFORE the day of the tie, and in the event of any issues, the home club should pay the match fee and notify the League.
