AFC Oldham up to Second After Rain-Hit Weekend
Heavy showers on the previous day followed by steady rain on match day produced a lot of postponed games on what was to be a busy league programme across the divisions. This was despite the excellent efforts of league and club officials to try and find alternative venues at late notice. There was just one cup game, and it saw Bedians lose to the only goal of the game in their Northern Cup clash with Daten FC Reserves. The top game in the RFAITS Premier Division between the t

Bollington Extend Premier Division Lead
Despite the after effects of Storm Claudia followed by some winter weather it was virtually a full programme of league and county cup matches. In the Manchester Amateur Cup last week’s postponed matches were completed and East Manchester progressed to the quarter finals with a 6-4 triumph over Didsbury Reserves. They fought back impressively after shipping two within the opening 10 minutes but pulled a goal back before the break and were level a minute into the second half.

Moston Brook March on in Cup
Grass Pitches were wiped out for play due the heavy rain from Storm Claudia but thanks to some good organisation several teams were able to switch their fixtures to get their games played. In the latest round of the Lancashire Amateur Cup the league’s hopes now rest with Moston Brook Reserves who enjoyed a comfortable 5-1 win over Southport and Ainsdale. Going out were Oldham Hulmeians losing 3-0 at Chaddertonians and Rochdalians whose run in the cup ended in a 4-0 defeat at

Double Cup Joy for Didsbury
Before all league and cup games this weekend, L&C players, management and officials paid their respects on Remembrance weekend, impeccably observing a minute’s silence. The postponed Manchester Amateur Cup games produced good results for the L&C with four more teams going through to the last 16, making it eight in total. StretsGregs won the tense shootout 2-1 to move into the next round. Another penalty shoot-out was needed as Newton Vikings hosted Clarksfield and Glodwick and after a 1-1 deadlock, Vikings crui

Bedians Through to Round Two
It was back to full action after Storm Amy and there were some catch-up County Cup games including the Manchester Challenge Trophy , which saw Bedians host Denton Town, former L&C stars and now in the top level of the Cheshire League. Bedians showed their intent as they took the lead on two minutes but Denton were quickly level and this was the pattern of the game with Bedians winning a 4-3 thriller to move into round two where they will meet another former L&C team Moorside
