League Pays Tribute to Two Club Legends
The L&C AFL and other football organisations in the area were saddened to hear of the recent passing away of two significant figures of amateur football in Greater Manchester. Mark Wilson (Rochdalians) and Chris Carney (Salford Victoria) had been involved with their clubs for a combined total of nearly 100 years. Mark Wilson
The League is deeply saddened to report the passing of Mark Wilson, the much respected Club Secretary of Rochdalians AFC. Alexander Drew joined the L&C in 1994 with Mark at the helm, the club reverting back to it's original name of Rochdalians in 1999. Mark was instrumental in the club securing it's own home at Springhill Playing Fields in 1997, and success came quickly with the League Championship being secured in the same year with further triumphs in 2000, 2003, 2015, 2016

Rochdalians and Oldham Hulmeians Progress in Cup
L&C teams were involved in County Cup action and a thriller at Rochdalians in the Lancashire Amateur Cup saw the home team edge out Stoneclough Reserves on penalties. It ended at 2-2 and in the penalty shoot-out Rochdalians kept their nerve to breeze through 4-2. Oldham Hulmeians join them in the next round after comfortably seeing off Hapton 5-1. Rochdalians and Oldham Hulmeians Enjoy Cup Progress
L&C sides secured progression in County Cup competition this past weekend. In the Lancashire Amateur Cup, Oldham Hulmeians crushed AFC Wigan 10-3 and Rochdalians continued their proud record in the competition by battling past Halshaw Moor A 2-1. Moston Brook Reserves joined that duo in the next round after edging a 2-1 win at Storeys of Lancaster Reserves.
