Cup Drama as Full Programme Returns

Action Underway in Inaugural Cup Competitions

South Manchester rally support as they near 100 seasons in L&C

Up for the Cup in 2026!
The L&C will be running it's three main internal cup knock-out competitions this season: 1 The Rhodes Cup for teams in the Premier Division and Division One, 2 The Wray Cup for teams in Division Two and Division Three and 3 The Whitehead Cup for teams in Division A and Division B. Invitational Cups launched for New Year

Bollington Strengthen Position at Summit

Moorside Make Cup Quarters
Moorside took the total of L&C teams through to quarter-finals of the Manchester Amateur Cup to three with a demolition 7-0 win over Heywood St James Reserves thanks to a brace apiece from Joe FAGAN and Jason EVANS, along with strikes by Ryan BEECH, Rhys ROBERTS and Liam MAHER. Bollington Extend Premier Division Lead
Despite the after effects of Storm Claudia followed by some winter weather it was virtually a full programme of league and county cup matches. In the Manchester Amateur Cup last week’s postponed matches were completed and East Manchester progressed to the quarter finals with a 6-4 triumph over Didsbury Reserves. They fought back impressively after shipping two within the opening 10 minutes but pulled a goal back before the break and were level a minute into the second half.

Moston Brook March on in Cup
Grass Pitches were wiped out for play due the heavy rain from Storm Claudia but thanks to some good organisation several teams were able to switch their fixtures to get their games played. Double Cup Joy for Didsbury
Before all league and cup games this weekend, L&C players, management and officials paid their respects on Remembrance weekend, impeccably observing a minute’s silence. The postponed Manchester Amateur Cup games produced good results for the L&C with four more teams going through to the last 16, making it eight in total. It was a great day for Didsbury FC as both their first and second teams made it through for a great double for the club in two close and dramatic contests.

County Cup Progress for L&C Teams
It was a big day for L&C teams in the Manchester Amateur County Cup second round with 16 teams competing in the last 32. One of the most dramatic was the all-L&C derby between Old StretsGregs and Stretford Paddock Ams which saw a breathless game decided on penalties after a 4-4 draw. Rochdalians and Oldham Hulmeians Progress in Cup
L&C teams were involved in County Cup action and a thriller at Rochdalians in the Lancashire Amateur Cup saw the home team edge out Stoneclough Reserves on penalties. It ended at 2-2 and in the penalty shoot-out Rochdalians kept their nerve to breeze through 4-2. Oldham Hulmeians join them in the next round after comfortably seeing off Hapton 5-1. Bedians Through to Round Two
It was back to full action after Storm Amy and there were some catch-up County Cup games including the Manchester Challenge Trophy , which saw Bedians host Denton Town, former L&C stars and now in the top level of the Cheshire League. A busy day of Manchester County Cup competitions and league fixtures saw many of the games scheduled to be played on grass washed out by Storm Amy. The postponed fixtures in the cup competitions will be scheduled to be played this coming weekend giving fixtures secretary Malc Kershaw a busy time changing the planned busy programme.
