Rochdalians and Oldham Hulmeians Enjoy Cup Progress

L&C sides secured progression in County Cup competition this past weekend. In the Lancashire Amateur Cup, Oldham Hulmeians crushed AFC Wigan 10-3 and Rochdalians continued their proud record in the competition by battling past Halshaw Moor A 2-1.
Moston Brook Reserves joined that duo in the next round after edging a 2-1 win at Storeys of Lancaster Reserves.
In the Manchester Challenge Trophy, hosts AFC Oldham saw Moorside Rangers go through 4-2 on penalties after a 1-1 deadlock.
Elsewhere, Rushford Park were clinical in a 3-0 victory hosting Curzon Ashton Reserves.
Premier Division action saw in-form leaders Bollington United cruise to a 7-0 win at Trafford United to stay three points clear. They are being chased by Chadderton Cott who stay second with a thumping 9-0 demolition of Boothstown.
The other game was much closer with Manchester South End moving into the top four after a 5-3 win over Richmond Rovers.
In Division One the top two both won with leaders East Manchester Galaxy working hard for a 2-1 victory at AFC Stockport and Village Manchester were again in the goals with a 5-3 defeat of Santos.
The hosts took a two-goal lead within three minutes, and though Sam Ryder quickly replied, two more goals from Village gave them a commanding lead at the interval. Santos rallied in the second half, a Ryan McConkie penalty and another from Kane Steele gave the team a chance but it wasn't enough as the hosts scored a fifth late on.
Mellor were delighted to pick up their first win of the season beating Withington Wanderers 7-1, as did Grappenhall Sports with an efficient 2-0 win over Stretford Paddock Ams.
There were some close games in a well contested Division Two and top of the pile Heywood St James Reserves stay a point clear of four other teams after a comfortable 5-1 win over South Manchester.
Of the chasing pack, only Manchester Rovers were in league action and they kept in touch with a 4-2 victory over Elton Fold to maintain their perfect start.
Moorside beat Old StretsGregs 4-1 and in the other two games Konger scored the only goal against Abacus Media Reserves while Old Alts Thirds edged a 2-1 win over Tintwistle Athletic Reserves.
There were plenty of goals in Division Three, with leaders Timperley Villa without a game, second-placed free scoring Spurley Hey suffered a shock 7-0 drubbing at Didsbury Reserves.
Moston Brook Thirds enjoyed a resounding 8-3 win over AFC Stockport Warriors and Fitton Hill All-Stars won their local derby with AFC Oldham Reserves 5-0.

It was close at Altrincham Hale Reserves who conceded an early goal to Stoconians who went on to win 3-2 and the other game saw Trafford United Reserves keep an immaculate clean sheet in a 3-0 win over Manchester Saints.
Division A leaders Signol Athletic stay top of division one but they had to work hard for a 5-3 win over Silver Birch.
AFC Salford stay two points behind the leaders as they accounted for Heyside 4-0.
Rushford Park Reserves also have a 100% record after a gritty 2-1 win at AFC Stockport Titans.
The competitive nature of the division was shown in the other two games with Newton Vikings scoring the only goal of their game with Village Manchester Reserves and Prestwich Marauders and Urmston Meadowside shared six goals.
Just two points separate the top five teams in Division B with Stoconians Reserves a point clear at the top after a 7-1 cruise hosting close rivals Bury Ams B allowed them to overtake non-playing Santos U23s.
Keeping on the heels of the top three are Waterhead Reserves after a 3-1 derby win over AFC Oldham A while Didsbury Thirds defeated Cavaliers 7-3.
The other game was tight with Manchester Victoria winning 2-1 at Richmond Rovers to move towards mid-table.
