South Manchester FC were proud winners of the Lancashire and Cheshire AFL’s Fair Play Trophy for the 2024-25 season and it was presented to South’s long-serving secretary Tony Brogan by L&C President James Keeley.
L&C Discipline Secretary John Melia explained the criteria for the much-admired and sought-after trophy.
“The award is given to the team with the lowest discipline points total in the League and South’s total of four points was based on two cautions and one dismissal which was for two yellow cards.
“I have refereed them and they displayed fantastic behaviour and were always a pleasure to referee and it was a well-deserved award.
“A few years ago it would have been difficult to imagine using the words South Manchester and Fair Play in the same sentence but all credit to them for their achievement.”
