L&C Chairman Mike Yates outlined the season in the league to date at the Autumn EGM held at Curzon Ashton FC.
Mike said: “ I would like to give a warm welcome to the Autumn EGM of the Lancashire and Cheshire Amateur Football League to all attendees.
”We have a special guest in Mark Harris who is helping the League with our new Commercial and Communication Strategy .
“He is a consultant in the FA Leagues Programme , he has a wealth of experience in football and marketing and is currently the Chair of the Northern Premier League
“As the weather is changing now and wet and muddy grass pitches become an issue we want to get games played where possible as nobody wants to be playing midweek at the end of the season .”If your pitch is not playable firstly try and switch the venue with your opposition and then if that is not possible try and book an all-weather pitch and fixtures secretary Malcolm Kershaw will subsidise this to half the fee or £60 maximum. .
This year’s League President is Rob O’Connor from Bedians, a long standing player and now manager of Bedians.Rob has been involved in the L&C Inter League team for many years with plenty of success.
“Rob has very kindly offered to sponsor us for the next three seasons through his firm RFAITS .
“The Premier division will now be called The RFAITS Premier division and you will see the RFAITS logo on some of committee’s polo shirt sleeves .
“Since the August GM when we had seventy-two teams across six divisions we have unfortunately lost two teams: Bury Ams from Division A , before a ball was kicked, and more recently Old Strets Greg’s from Division Three.
“If any club needs help in keeping their team alive , please reach out to the relevant committee member for help and guidance .
“I can report that Bedians represented the league in the pre-season Inter League club championship. They defeated Rochdale St Clements from the LAL to win the McKeown Cup , so well done to them .
“Tomorrow night is the Manchester FA awards ceremony where three of our committee Phil Faulkner, Brian Davies and Graham Ellis are receiving 25-year long service awards from guest of honour ex-Manchester United and England captain Bryan Robson awards so congratulations to them on their well-deserved awards.
“The early season summary is at the top of the RFAITS Premier Division, two teams are undefeated Rushford Park and AFC Oldham, but top are Bollington Utd having played more games.
“Division One sees a similar scenario where East Manchester Galaxy and Rochdalians are undefeated , and top on goal difference are Oldham Hulmeians.
“Manchester Rovers are top of Division Ttwo , followed closely by Moorside and Elton Fold, but handily placed in fourth spot are Heywood St James reserves, undefeated but having played fewer games.
