Manchester Rovers Secure Division Three Title


The champions of Division Three were confirmed as Manchester Rovers got the point they needed when they faced their nearest challengers Saddleworth 3Ds.

Second-place Saddleworth started the day ten points behind with a game in hand so knew that a win was essential to keep the race and their hopes alive.

Josh DAVENPORT and Harry ROACHE netted for the visitors and Saddleworth could not get the third goal to take the title race into another week as Rovers secured the title with a 2-2 draw.


In the Premier Division, Bedians confirmed their plays as runners up with a clinical 4-1 win over AFC Monton.

The champions Salford Vics fell to only their second defeat of the season in a 5-1 defeat to relegation-threatened Village Manchester.

Village played with great intent and showed their finishing skill as the goals flowed from Chris TELLING, Dec MORAN, Ray ADA (two) and a superb fifth from Sam HOLDEN to lift them clear of the bottom two.

Pro United posted one of their best results of the season with a 4-0 win over Bollington United after Lewis GALLAGHER and Jadel YADUAT put them in charge at 2-0 at the break.


Division One champions Chadderton Cott were without a game but Chairman Dean BARDSLEY was delighted to receive the winner’s trophy from League Chairman Mike YATES.

Action in Division Two was limited to one game and Abacus Media Reserves found their shooting boots with a big 8-2 win over Cavaliers.


Elsewhere in Division Three, Timperley Villa were on form in a 4-1 derby win in midweek over Broadheath Central followed by a 6-1 cruise over Spurley Hey.

It was also close at AFC Stockport Warriors who edged a 3-2 win over Old StretsGregs Reserves and South Manchester kept an immaculate clean sheet in a 2-0 win over a lively Altrincham Hale.

In Division A Didsbury Reserves followed up their Whitehead Cup win with an impressive 4-1 win over divisional leaders Waterhead to keep the title race open.

Prestwich Marauders lost to only goal of their game with Irlam Steel Development but it was a goal-filled thriller at Salford United as they beat Manchester Saints 6-4.


There were two games in Division B with the main one featuring two of the leading teams with Bury Ams B winning 4-2 to overtake AFC Stockport Titans.

The other game saw AFC Oldham Reserves win a tight contest by 3-2 hosting Village Manchester Thirds.
