Waterhead AFC were crowned champions of Division A to cap off a superb first season in the L&C.
As league action draws to a close for the season, there are few positions to be settled but one was who would finish top of Division A between Waterhead and Didsbury Reserves, both of whom have romped to promotion.
Didsbury Reserves raced to a 4-2 victory and have a superior goal difference so only three points would do for Waterhead, which duly arrived, prompting fitting celebrations as they were presented with their trophy by L&C Chairman Mike Yates. The gap between the two couldn’t have been much closer, with just one point being the difference, but both look set to make a good fist of playing in a higher division next season.
The division’s other game saw Bury Ams A thrash Newton Vikings 5-1, confirming their 5th-place finish.

Elsewhere, Premier Division and Rhodes Cup winners Salford Vics concluded their double-winning season with a 6-3 victory at Monton, the highlight of which was a Sam BIRKETT hat-trick.
They showed why they were champions because, though Jack KIMMINS and Jack COBBETT goals saw Monton lead 2-1 at the break, and they were pegged back again in the second half after equalising, they roared ahead to win the encounter with something to spare. Their other goals came from Camron WOODHOUSE, Harry COLLINS and Paul VILLER.

AFC Monton bounced back from that valiant defeat during the week to defeat Bury Ams 3-2 and move up a place to finish seventh in the league.

Action in Division One was completed before the weekend, with Chadderton Cott going up as champions and Rushford Park joining them in promotion celebrations.

In Division Two, Didsbury rounded off their home games in style with a resounding 6-2 win over Abacus Media Reserves. It has been a challenging period for the club who suffered horrendously after the January floods made it impossible to play a home fixture for weeks afterwards but they have recovered to finish the season positively and, as a club, have enjoyed further success after Didsbury Reserves clinched recently clinched Division A promotion and won the Whitehead Cup.

There were three games in Division Three, including a convincing 5-0 win for Saddleworth 3D at Trafford United as they finish second and look forward to Division Two football next season.
Altrincham Hale Thirds won their local derby at Timperley Villa 3-1 and Village Manchester Reserves got the point they needed to avoid relegation. Their pulsating 3-3 draw with Old StretsGregs Reserves – who themselves finished a creditable third – means Village leapfrog AFC Stockport Warriors who finish in the bottom two on goal difference.

There was no action in Division B, which concluded last week with Signol Athletic going up as champions and Rushford Pa
rk Reserves giving the club a promotion double, edging out Bury Ams B by one point.
