L&C Triumph Over LAL as Season Ends in Style
The weekend saw completion of the remaining league fixtures, as well as the annual Inter League match with rivals and friends from the Lancashire Amateur League to contest the John Howard Shield. Signol Make Second Final in Memorable Season
Signol Athletic’s dream week continued as they reached the Keith Marsden Cup Final in by dramatically beating AFC Salford on penalties. Fresh from securing the Whitehead Cup, Signol could make it a memorable treble given they are well placed to secure the Division A title. Moorside Make Cup Quarters
Moorside took the total of L&C teams through to quarter-finals of the Manchester Amateur Cup to three with a demolition 7-0 win over Heywood St James Reserves thanks to a brace apiece from Joe FAGAN and Jason EVANS, along with strikes by Ryan BEECH, Rhys ROBERTS and Liam MAHER. Their reward in the last eight is a meeting with Heywood St James Development, and this latest victory extends their unbeaten run to eight games in all competitions. Bedians Through to Round Two
It was back to full action after Storm Amy and there were some catch-up County Cup games including the Manchester Challenge Trophy , which saw Bedians host Denton Town, former L&C stars and now in the top level of the Cheshire League. Bedians showed their intent as they took the lead on two minutes but Denton were quickly level and this was the pattern of the game with Bedians winning a 4-3 thriller to move into round two where they will meet another former L&C team Moorside
