Bedians keep Premier Division title race alive

The big battle at the top of the Premier Division saw the top two contenders in opposition at Salford Sports Village with leaders Salford Vics taking on Bedians.

Both teams went into a very good sporting game missing a few key players and it was unbeaten Vics who netted first.

But Bedians upper the ante to run out 3-1 leaders but Vics are still hot title favourites with a big nine-point lead with Bedians having a game in hand.

The other game in the top division was at Village Manchester who entertained AFC Monton in an exciting encounter.

It was Matt Salmon’s first game as the Village manager and he was delighted as strikes from Dec Moran, Nat Higgins, Sam Holden and Chris Tetling took them into a 4-0 lead.

But Monton showed great resilience as they pulled a goal back.

Matt Salmon came on as a late substitute and his first touch was an own goal and Monton made it 4-3 at the death in an excellent game.


In Division One Trafford reserves have been on a great run of results as the visited fellow promotion hopefuls Rushford Park.

Rushford hit the blocks running to race into a 4-0 lead and two late goals for Trafford but it was too little, too late.

Chadderton Cott stay a point clear of Rushford with a 4-2 win at Moston Brook reserves and the other game saw Stoconians beat Hattersley by the odd goal in five.


It’s hot at the top of Divison Two with four teams still in the promotion race.

Leaders Rochdalians were without a game and Mellor reserves overtook them with a big 6-3 win at Konger FC.

Stretford Paddock reserves kept in touch with a comfortable 7-3 win at Derbyshire Junior Cup finalists Tintwistle Athletic reserves.

No shocks for Division Three leaders Manchester Rovers  as they stayed 14 points clear with a routine 4-1 win over AFC Stockport Warriors.

Old StretsGregs reserves moved into second spot with a nail-biting 3-2 derby win over Altrincham Hale overtaking Saddleworth 3D who have plenty of games in hand over their rivals.

The other game in the division between Timperley Villa and Village Manchester reserves ended in a 1-1 deadlock.

There was a shock for Division A leaders Waterhead who lost out 6-4 hosting basement team Milnrow Firgrovia.

The game between the next two teams in the division between Didsbury reserves and Moston Brook thirds saw a close contest decided by the only goal in the game coming from Moston Brook to keep them in second place but they have only one game left to play.

The other two games were tight contests with Salford United winning by the odd goals in nine at Prestwich Marauders and Bury Ams A won 2-1 at Stafford Argyle.


The main game in Division B was a Whitehead Cup semi-final between the two top teams in the division.

Signol Athletic showed why they are clear leaders in the division as they cruised into the semi-finals with a resounding 9-1 win to give them a semi-final tie against Didsbury reserves.

League action saw Village Manchester thirds win 2-1 at Didsbury thirds and Bury Ams B edged a 3-2 win over AFC Oldham reserves.
