Signol Secure Division A Title

Signol Athletic secured the second part of what could be a memorable treble-winning season after beating Village Manchester Reserves 4-2 to lift the Division A title.

After clinching the Whitehead Cup, Signol went into the game knowing a win would hand them more silverware.

But it was not plain sailing for Signol as a well organised Village led 2-1 at the break with strikes from Franky Habbaa and Ayo Oyesaliya.

Village were reduced to ten men early in the second half with a red card for their keeper but continued to make life difficult for Signol.

Eventually they steadied their nerve after drawing level and doubles from Ben Perry and Dan Roper secured a 4-2 win and Signol were delighted to receive the League champions trophy from L&C President Mike Yates to set up the celebrations.

Signol can make it a treble if they win the Keith Marsden Cup on Saturday when they take on Newton Vikings at Bedians.

The other game in the division saw Newton Vikings win 3-1 at Silver Birch.

There was a twist in the RFAITS Premier Division title race as Rushford Park, fresh from triumphing in the Rhodes Cup, overtook long-time league leaders Bollington United after recording two vital victories.

A close 4-3 midweek win over Bedians saw them close the gap on the leaders and this was followed by a comfortable 5-1 win over Richmond Rovers with strikes from Fin Dooner, Mo Jabir, Eden Fallon and Demell Cumberbatch putting them in control.

Bollington led 1-0 at the break at AFC Oldham but conceded three goals in the second half without reply and Rushford took full advantage.

The top two meet in a midweek cliff-hanger this Wednesday at Bollington in what may be a title decider as Park have a game in hand and they visit Manchester Rose on Saturday.

It’s all to play for in Division One with the top three teams separated by two points.

Leaders Oldham Hulmeians were without a game and East Manchester Galaxy moved to within a point.

Despite losing 4-3 to AFC Stockport in midweek, they came back strongly with a 4-0 win at Stretford Paddock Ams and are handily placed with games in hand.

Didsbury remain in the mix after a convincing 8-3 win over Mellor to keep track on the top two.

The other game in the division saw AFC Stockport win 4-1 at Rochdalians.

Moorside have already won the Division Two title by a big margin and suffered a shock second defeat by 6-3 at second-placed Heywood St James Reserves in midweek.

They returned to title-winning form in their Saturday game at Moston Brook Reserves with a 7-0 win.

The other games in the division produced wins for Abacus Media Reserves 4-1 at Bury Ams, 2-0 for Saddleworth 3D over Konger, 4-2 for South Manchester hosting Old StretsGregs and 3-1 for Tintwistle Athletic Reserves over Old Alts thirds.

Waterhead virtually secured the Division Three title last week and their main rivals Fitton Hill AllStars drew level with them on points with a 2-0 win over Stoconians in their final game.

Waterhead have a big 17 goal advantage and a game in hand as they go into their final game at Moston Brook Thirds.

Oldham Hulmeians reserves are already Division B champions and were without a game.

Two games were played in the division and they were close contests with Didsbury Thirds beating Moston Brook Fourths 2-1 and Bury Ams B scored the only goal of their game at Richmond Rovers Reserves.
