Bollington Lead the Way at the Top

It was back to a full league programme and in the Premier Division, Bollington united continue to rule the roost after a comfortable 4-0 at Richmond Rovers maintains their six-point lead at the summit.

Second-placed Rushford Park have three games in hand over United and stretched their 100% record in the game of the day with Chadderton Cott.

Cott hit hard on the break in the early stages to lead 2-1 at the interval but Rushford showed their intent as they ran out 4-3 breathless winners in game well refereed by Nicola Mtetwa.

Manchester Rose have made a bright start in the league and kept up their good form with some clinical finishing in an excellent game with Manchester South End as they netted five times without reply.

Pre-season title favourites and McKeown Cup winners Bedians were delighted to get back into league action after County Cup commitments, and they move off the foot of the table with a 2-1 win at Trafford United.

It’s close at the top of Division One with just four points separating the top six teams.

East Manchester Galaxy took over at the top from non-playing Village Manchester with a hard-fought 2-1 win over Didsbury FC.

Oldham Hulmeians lead three teams who are level on 11 points after a convincing 7-0 win at AFC Stockport put them ahead of Rochdalians and Stretford Paddock Ams who shared four goals in an even contest.

Another game reflecting the competitive nature of the division saw Mellor and Santos share goals. Mellor went two goals ahead but were pegged backed with a Danny Brierley effort in the first half.

Tim Gallagher equalised before the hosts retook the lead but Liam Maguire equalised to ensure a share of the spoils.

It’s also hot at the top of Division Two with Manchester Rovers leading the way by a point after a comfortable 4-1 win at Moston Brook Reserves.

Just a point off their pace is Moorside who enjoyed a 6-1 local derby win over Saddleworth 3D and Moorside have a game in hand over Rovers.

Elton Fold dropped to third place after being held 1-1 by Tintwistle Athletic Reserves and Heywood St James are a point further back after proving too hot to handle for Bury Ams in a 6-2 win.

Konger stay in the mix with a 4-2 win over Old Alts Thirds and the other game saw old StretGregs edge a tense 4-3 win over Abacus Media Reserves.

Three teams are level on points at the top of Division Three led by Waterhead who maintained their 100% record with 2-1 derby win at former leaders Fitton Hill All-Stars.

Joining them are Timperley Villa who ended their recent poor run of form with a 4-1 win at AFC Oldham Reserves.

Free-scoring Spurley Hey are snapping at the heels of the top three after an efficient 3-0 win at Manchester Saints Athletic.

Didsbury Reserves enjoyed a resounding 9-1 win at Trafford United Reserves and Stoconians were also on form with a 6-3 win at Moston Brook Thirds.

Division A leaders Signol Athletic got back to winning ways with an impressive 5-0 derby win over AFC Stockport Titans and Rushford Park Reserves inflicted the first defeat of the season for Cheadle and Gatley with a big 9-1 win.

Silver Birch continued their improved for with a 4-0 win at Village Manchester Reserves and Newton Vikings went nap in a 5-0 win over Urmston Meadowside.

Division B leaders Stoconians saw their lead cut after a 2-2 draw with AFC Oldham A, which allowed Oldham Hulmeians Reserves to close the gap to five points with three games in hand as they cruised to a 7-0 win over Bury Ams B.

Manchester Victoria were delighted to post their second win of the season with a thrilling 4-3 victory at Saddleworth 3D Reserves.

Santos U23 drew 2-2 at home to Richmond Rovers Reserves. The visitors stormed into an early two-goal lead but a Jackson Fulton brace earned Santos U23 a point.

The other game was a one-horse race with Waterhead Reserves beating Didsbury Thirds 12-2.
