Summer Ends with Flood of Goals

It was a day of torrential rain which led to many postponements but there was still plenty of exciting action to see out the summer.
The top Premier Division encounter saw Bollington United and Bedians playing at Macclesfield’s Moss Rose ground and United continued their great start to the season with a 6-1 win which takes them level on points at the top of the table with AFC Oldham with both teams having a 100% record. Joe COBEY brought his shooting boots to net five goals for the home team.
Rushford Park are on the heels of the top two with a game in hand as they had few problems in beating Trafford United 6-1, Dernell CUMBERBATCH and Aaron O'NEILL scoring two goals each.
The other games were much closer with Chadderton Cott also in the mix with a nerve-jangling 4-3 win over Manchester Rose, the division's leading scorer Chinonso EZE adding two to his tally for Rose, but a brace from Tom TAYLOR and goals from Ashley SHAW and Aaron TAYLOR saw Cott home.
The other two games in the division both ended at 2-2 between Manchester South and Boothstown and Richmond Rovers and Abacus Media.
Division One is very tight with just two points separating the top five teams.
East Manchester Galaxy moved a point clear at the top with a clinical 4-0 win at Santos, Abdul NASSRAT netting twice, but Stretford Paddock Ams lurk a point behind after defeating Oldham Humeians 3-1, goals from Luke PORTER, Nuno TIAGO and Harry BUTTERWORTH scooping up the three points.
Village Manchester remain a point off the summit after securing back-to-back wins with an Aaron CLARKE brace paving the way for a 3-0 win at Withington Wanderers and they’re level on points with Rochdalians who secured a gritty 2-1 win over Grappenhall Sports, Declan BARRY and Luke FORSHAW strikes for 'Dalians bettering a William PINNEY goal for Sports.
In Division Two, Moston Brook Reserves are top on goal difference after a hard-earned 2-1 win at Old Alts Thirds.
Bury Ams kept up their pace with Brook with a comfortable 4-0 win at Tintwistle Athletic Reserves, Dixon CHARLTON scoring twice and Max NORMAN and Ellis PHILLIPS one apiece.
A pulsating game at Old StretsGregs saw them share six goals with Heywood St James Reserves and another close contest ended with a 2-1 triumph for Elton Fold at Abacus Media Reserves, Devan ALLEYNE taking his rally for Fold to four goals witha brace.

Spurley Hey enjoyed an impressive 11-1 win over Trafford United Reserves in Division Three, the prolific Lea TAYLOR hitting a hat-trick for Hey, where Fitton Hill All-Stars won a frantic game at AFC Stockport Warriors 7-4, Liam SHEA and Ben O'BRIEN adding two goals each, and elsewhere, Stoconians thrashed Old StretsGregs Reserves 5-1.
The game of the day saw Timperley Villa stay three points clear at the top as they edged their local derby with Altrincham Hale thirds by 2-1.
Ben PERRY was again tormentor-in-chief with two goals as Signol Athletic stay top of Division A with a 4-2 win at Heyside.
Referee John Melia praised both teams for their immaculate conduct and excellent football as a great example for the league.
AFC Salford continued their bright form with a 4-1 win at AFC Stockport Titans to stay in touch with Signol.
Cheadle and Gatley kept in touch with the top two with a comfortable 6-0 win at Village Manchester Reserves, Daniel FORRESTER bagging three goals for the visitors and stay level with Rushford Park Reserves who had a four-goal haul from Joe CHADWICK to thank for a 5-0 win at Silver Birch.
The other game in the division had plenty of thrills and spills as Newton Vikings won 4-3 at Urmston Meadowside, Max JESSON scoring twice for Meds with Jimmy SMITH matching his counterpart with two goals of his own.
It’s tight at the top of Division B with a handful of points between the top seven teams.
The game between the top two Bury Ams B and Santos U23s ended in a 1-1 deadlock to keep Santos on top on goal difference.
The big hitters were Stoconians reserves with a 7-1 win at AFC Oldham A with Max THEAKER smashing in five goals.
It was close in the other two games with Didsbury thirds winning 4-3 at Moston Brook Thirds and Manchester Victoria moved out of the bottom two after a 1-1 draw with Saddleworth 3D Reserves.
